Sr. G/L Accountant

Job Description

July Business Services (JULY) views the Senior G/L Accountant as a key to the firm’s Finance & Accounting (F&A) function. Primarily responsible for leading a team of accounting professionals through timely and accurate deliverables and by creating operational process efficiencies. Tasked with driving employee performance and engagement, continuous improvement, and results, the Sr. G/L Accountant will enhance JULY’s financial statement reporting and month-end close processes. The Sr. G/L Accountant reports directly to the Chief Financial Officer in a private equity (PE) backed business.

The Gig

  • Accurately prepare and review timely financial statements.
  • Streamline and oversee the month end close process, significantly reducing the time to close.
  • Provide financial information to leadership and the board to facilitate data driven decision making.
  • Lead by example, exhibiting the company’s core values.
  • Work in tandem with broader F&A team to share success, enhance the function, deliver high quality results, and exceptional internal client service.
  • Establish merger and acquisition (M&A) accounting integration best practices.
  • Review, modify, and oversee the accounts payable (A/P) and accounts receivable (A/R) functions.
  • Maintain monthly fixed assets schedules and all capital leases.
  • Implement batch and billing audits and reconciliation processes to increase revenue.
  • Lead audits and other compliance projects.
  • Participate in the interviewing, selecting, and training of new F&A teammates.
  • Perform managerial tasks regularly and complete ad hoc projects when necessary.

Our Needs

  • 5+ years of corporate accounting experience including financial reporting
  • 3+ years in an accounting leadership role managing a team of varying skillsets
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or a relevant field of study
  • Strong understanding and proven application of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
  • Highly focused on details and priorities with the willingness and agility to pivot as priorities change
  • Solid computer skills including MS Office suite: Outlook, Word, Excel, Power Point, and Teams
  • Understanding of various legal entities and how multiple entities operate under different umbrellas
  • Professional and concise communication skills (written, verbal, and non-verbal)
  • Service focused attitude thriving on accountability, credibility, and trustworthiness
  • Positive influencer of change, innovation, and problem solving
  • Federal and state tax knowledge
  • Professional maturity and managerial courage
