Brian M. Smith serves as Area Vice President of Sales at JULY, where he focuses on expanding the firm’s distribution and partnership network across the retirement industry. Based in Columbus, Ohio, Brian works closely with broker-dealer firms, registered investment advisers (RIAs), and other strategic partners to develop and strengthen relationships that drive JULY’s growth. Beyond business development, he contributes to product innovation, leads JULY-hosted webinars, and represents the company at prominent industry conferences, while also providing guidance to the sales team on product positioning, plan design, compliance, and administration.

Brian joined JULY in 2018 and has over 23 years of experience in the retirement and financial services industry. Known for his deep expertise in plan design, particularly cash balance plans, he is also recognized for his ability to foster strong client relationships. Throughout his career, Brian has consistently met or exceeded sales goals, demonstrating his commitment to helping advisors and employers deliver retirement solutions that work.

A graduate of The Max M. Fisher College of Business at The Ohio State University, Brian holds multiple industry credentials from the American Society of Pension Professionals & Actuaries (ASPPA), including Qualified Pension Administrator (QPA), Qualified 401(k) Consultant (QKC), and Qualified 401(k) Administrator (QKA). He is also the co-founder of the Central Ohio Retirement Professionals (CORP) networking group, a community that brings together retirement plan advisors, recordkeepers, TPAs, and investment wholesalers to share best practices and stay at the forefront of industry developments.

Brian extends his leadership beyond the workplace through service on the Board of Directors for two non-profit organizations: Team Honor, which supports Gold and Blue Star Families, and The Natalie Gray Foundation for Pediatric Brain Tumors, which provides resources, research funding, and hope for children diagnosed with brain tumors.

When he’s not working, Brian enjoys coaching his sons’ baseball team, snow skiing, golfing, and taking beach vacations. A proud graduate of The Ohio State University and an avid Buckeye fan, Brian lives in Powell, Ohio with his wife, Amber, and their sons, Garrett and Colton.
