John Steinmeyer
Chief Technology Officer
John Steinmeyer is the Chief Technology Officer at JULY, where he leads the company’s technology strategy, software development, and IT infrastructure. Based in the Jacksonville, Florida area, John brings more than 30 years of experience in the financial services industry, with deep expertise spanning the full software development lifecycle.
As CTO, John weighs what the business needs against what’s secure, buildable, and worth investing in. He has built and led engineering teams across the U.S. and offshore, and is focused on systems that hold up under real-world load for advisors, plan sponsors, and participants.
John joined JULY in 2023 as Senior Vice President of Software Engineering before being named Chief Technology Officer in 2024. Prior to JULY, he served as Chief Technology Officer at Custodia Financial, where he was responsible for technology strategy and implementation across the organization. Earlier in his career, John spent more than two decades at SunGard Relius, rising from software developer to Vice President and helping develop the Relius product suite, including Relius Administration, Relius Documents, and Relius Government Forms. His early career also included software development roles at Prudential Insurance and Transmark USA.
John holds a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from the University of North Florida and an Associate degree from Florida State College at Jacksonville.
Outside of work, John loves to spend time outdoors and has hiked sections of the Appalachian Trail, trekked to Everest Base Camp, and explored trails in Scotland, Italy, and Austria. A lifelong music lover with a soft spot for acoustic instruments and thoughtful songwriting, John counts Jackson Browne and Jason Isbell among his favorites and still keeps his vinyl copy of Browne’s “For Everyman.”
