A few things you might not know about John…

What song, album, or artist could you listen to on repeat?

“Guy Clark – hands down. He influenced so many and was a true craftsman and great storyteller. A few of my favorites include The Cape, Stuff that Works, Hemmingway’s Whiskey, and My Favorite Picture of You. But it does not really matter – just push play.”

Are you a good dancer?

“I am a mean two-stepper. I suppose that comes from growing up in small-town Texas and spending too much time at the Melody Ranch during my college days at Baylor!”

What would your talent be if you were Mr. World?

“Hacky Sack. I keep several hacky sacks in my desk drawer, and if someone turned on an 80s rock ballad and broke out a cold beverage, I could easily be convinced to strike up a game.”

Are you sunrise, daylight, twilight, or nighttime? Why?

“Pre-sunrise! Nothing better than the quiet of dawn where your thoughts are fresh, and you can dive into plans to tackle the world. Add in a hot cup of coffee and it’s magic!”

Would you rather travel back in time to meet your ancestors or into the future to meet your descendants? Why?

“I would really enjoy meeting my ancestors. I come from a large family with big personalities, and I have done a fair amount of genealogy research. Some of my ancestors immigrated in the late 1600s in Virginia and then migrated through North Carolina and Tennessee, making their way to Northeast Texas in the early 1800s. It would be interesting to learn what life was really like without modern conveniences and with the hardships they faced.”
