Digital Products Leader

Summary

July Business Services (JULY) views the Digital Products Leader as a key to the firm’s technology function. The role is responsible for defining and driving our overall product strategy and shaping the user experience (UX) by understanding our users’ needs and partnering with digital designers, business analysts, developers, and other subject matter experts to translate the needs into innovative and compelling products. The Digital Products Leader is crucial in creating impactful products to serve the needs of retirement plan participants, sponsors, advisors, and other users. The position is primarily responsible for leading a team of financial technology professionals through the vision, design strategy, and lifecycle of various mobile and web-based products in the retirement plan space. Tasked with driving employee performance and engagement, continuous improvement, and results, the Digital Products Leader will enhance JULY’s UX across all digital touchpoints by ensuring our products are not just functional but provide a delightful, simple, and intuitive experience. The Digital Products Leader reports directly to the Chief Technology Officer in a private equity (PE) backed business.

The Gig

  • Vision and Strategy – Partner with stakeholders to define a clear product vision that aligns with the company’s goals and values. Define a comprehensive technology and digital strategy that achieves the vision while aligning with core platforms and capabilities. Understand the needs, goals, and pain points of retirement plan participants, sponsors, and advisors and incorporate them into the overall strategy.
  • Team Leadership – Hire when needed, lead, and develop a team of technology and digital professionals. Lead by example, exhibiting the company’s core values. Establish trust while fostering transparency, collaboration, and excellence by demonstrating empathy and authenticity. Perform managerial tasks regularly and timely.
  • Digital Transformation – Coordinate with other business partners to promote the organization’s digital transformation as it relates to public facing web products. Champion the importance of UX and work with the digital product manager and other UX designers to ensure that user needs and design principles are incorporated into the product.
  • Innovation – Set the innovation agenda for the web products, incorporating emerging product ideas and technologies that future ready the business. Stay updated with the latest industry trends and best practices in the retirement space.
  • Requirements Gathering and Documentation – Collaborate with stakeholders to gather and document detailed product requirements. Clearly communicate requirements to development teams using written requirements, user stories, wireframes, and other appropriate documentation.
  • Agile Development and Project Delivery – Oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of a suite of web products.  Act as the voice of the client. Develop and maintain the product roadmap. Take a disciplined approach to managing resources, budgets, and timelines.
  • Quality Assurance – Work with QA teams to define acceptance criteria and ensure high quality product releases.  Participate in user acceptance testing (UAT) to validate that products meet user expectations.

Our Needs

  • 5+ years of digital product experience
  • 3+ years in a digital product leadership role managing professionals
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, information technology, or a related field
  • Strong background in the retirement plan industry (recordkeeping, plan administration, participant services, and plan sponsor/advisor relationships)
  • Demonstrated leadership, internal/external client service, and leading a collaborative team environment
  • Knowledge of client centric design principles and utilizing those to effectively liaise between business leaders, designers, and analysts
  • Strategic thinker with methodic execution
  • Highly focused on details and priorities with the willingness and agility to pivot as priorities change without
  • Concise and professional communication skills (written, verbal, and non-verbal)
  • Professional maturity and managerial courage
